Genetic Diversity Assessment in Dolichos Bean (Lablab purpureus L.) Based on Principal Component Analysis and Single Linkage Cluster Analysis

Background: Dolichos bean occupies a unique position among the legume vegetables of Indian origin for its high nutritive value and wider climatic adaptability. Despite wide genetic diversity, no much effort has been undertaken towards improvement this vegetable crop. Knowledge on variability is an essential pre-requisite as hybrid between two diverse parental lines generates broad spectrum in segregating population. The current study aims to assess diversity dolichos genotypes make effective selection yield improvement.Methods: Twenty collected from different regions were evaluated during year 2016-17 2017-18. Data twelve quantitative traits was analysed using principal component analysis single linkage cluster estimation diversity.Result: Principal revealed that first five components possessed Eigen greater than 1, cumulatively contributed 82.53% total variability. characters positively contributing PC-I PC-V may be considered programme they are major involved variation pod yield. All grouped into three clusters showing non parallelism geographic diversity. Cluster-I best earliness number cluster/plant. Cluster-II vine length, per cent fruit set, width, weight seed /pod, III pods/cluster /plant. Selection parent divergent having more one positive trait interest hybridization likely give better progenies development yielding varieties bean.
